Southwest Shakespeare Event – On Thursday, October 20, 2016, the Phoenix Ivy Council will partner with the MIT Club and the Southwest Shakespeare Group to host a Merchant of Venice play at the Mesa Arts Center.  As part of this Shakespeare play, we will have Professor Kent Sorensen share his insights to our alumni group about the play.  We will have a social mixer on the rooftop before the event.

 

2016 Election Forum – On Thursday, October 27, 2016, Dr. Michael O’Neil, prominent political commentator and pollster, will share his insights into the upcoming national and local elections.  The elections forum will be held at the University Club with a happy hour before Mike’s presentation. 

 

FilmBar Event – On Sunday, November 13, 2016, we will host our second FilmBar classic film event with Film Studies Professor Joe Fortunato.  We will watch the classic film To Kill A Mockingbird.  The event will have a wine and cheese happy hour

 

11th Annual St. Mary’s Food Bank Volunteer Event – On Saturday, December 31, 2016, we will co-host the 11th Annual St. Mary’s Food Bank Volunteer Event to pack food for this food bank.  Last year, we had a total of 140 alumni volunteers pack enough food for 54,800 meals for hungry Arizonans.

June 1, 2016: Ivy Council Young Alumni Social Mixer event at the at the ZuZu patio at the Valley Ho Resort Hotel.

March 8, 2016: Ivy Council Young Alumni Social Mixer event at the Kelly’s at Southbridge in Scottsdale.

March 5, 2016: Ivy Council partnered with the Stanford Club to participate in an educational forum and Tempe Mission Palms resort buffet luncheon by the nationally recognized immigration scholar, Stanford Professor Albert Camarillo, titled “How Immigration from Mexico Reshaped America”.

February 6, 2016: Ivy Council partnered with the Phoenix Chamber Music Society to host a Dover Quartet concert with pre-event private Q&A session with members of the Dover Quartet, a world renown string quartet

January 22, 2016: Partnered with the Harvard Club to our participate in a social mixer and musical performance by the Phoenix Symphony. Prior to the performance, we heard a presentation by former Conductor Tito Muñoz.Presentation

December 26, 2015: 140 alumni participated in the 10th Annual St. Mary’s Food Bank Volunteer Event.

December 6, 2015: The Ivy Council hosted a wine and cheese happy hour followed by a presentation by ASU Film Studies Professor Joe Fortunato at a private showing of the classic movie Casablanca at FilmBar in downtown Phoenix.

September 30, 2015: Presentation in Scottsdale by ASU Professor Rhett Larson, Kathryn Sorensen and Sarah Porter Sarah Porter of the Kyl Center on Water Policy discussing potential water drought issues facing Arizona.

May 30, 2015: Grand Canyon Hike followed by dinner at the El Tovar Restaurant

April 26, 2015: All Ivy Tennis Tournament at the Paradise Valley Country Club

April 18, 2015: Lost Boys Found play with presentations after the performance by the playwright, cast and members of the Sudanese refugee community at the Arizona Opera Center

February 11, 2015: Presentation on the Future of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence by MIT Professor Joel Moses at the Arizona Science Center

January 26, 2015: Social Mixer and presentation by Bret Hovell, White House Reporter and Good Morning America Producer, Changing Hands Bookstore

January 16, 2015: Social Mixer and musical performance by the Phoenix Symphony. Presentation by Conductor Michael Christie at Symphony Hall

December 27, 2014: 125 alumni participated in the 9th Annual St. Mary’s Food Bank Volunteer Event.

December 6, 2014: Hike at the McDowell Sonoran Preserve followed by lunch at First Watch restaurant
